Information for members
The club
John Fisher Sports Club is controlled by the Sports Club Committee, made up of members from John Fisher Old Boys football and cricket sections, Hamsey Rangers and the Social manager. The Sports Club Committee is responsible for all the running costs of the clubhouse and grounds and sets a budget for each section each year to finance these costs.
The sections
The cricket and the two football sections also have their own management committees, responsible for affiliation, fixtures, player recruitment and selection, and the organisation of social events, amongst other things. Each section sets its own annual subscription and match fees, in order to meet the budget set by the Sports Club Committee.
The players
New players are always welcome and are actively encouraged. Every player will be asked to register at the start of each season, by filling in their contact details on a form provided by one of the team captains, and paying the subs and match fees as set by their section. These fees compare very well to alternative activities, such as going to the gym or watching professional sport, and are vital in keeping the facilities in good order.
We also seek to encourage movement between the sections. John Fisher OB football section welcomes players graduating from Hamsey Rangers; footballers are very welcome to pl ay for the cricket section in the summer, and vice versa.
We are always on the look out for new players. If, for example, there are any footballers or JF School leavers who would like either a regular or occasional game of cricket, please use the cricket email address johnfishercrick@hotmail.com or get in touch with either the Saturday or Sunday team captains, whose details are on the contacts page.
If you are available and keen, please get in touch. If you don't know any of the captains, email johnfisherfc@beeb.net. Please put 'Fisher' in the subject line as this helps to filter out spam.
If you are interested in playing cricket, email johnfishercrick@hotmail.com
